Northern Trust Jobs Announcement Great News for National Technology Park Limerick

Kevin Thompstone, Chief Executive, Shannon Development, warmly welcomed the announcement by Micheál Martin TD, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, today (7 September 2006), that Northern Trust Ireland is to create 300 new jobs at the National Technology Park in Limerick. He said “Today’s announcement is great news for the National Technology Park and for Limerick generally”. “As developers and managers of the National Technology Park in Limerick, Shannon Development has worked closely with IDA Ireland to promote the Park as an attractive location for foreign owned knowledge based enterprises, and we are delighted that an international company of the calibre of Northern Trust will be locating in the Park” said Mr Thompstone. Mr Thompstone added “We are also pleased that our efforts to encourage private sector development on the Park have resulted in Northern Trust deciding to locate their new offices in a private sector developed office facility on the Park”. Over 80 companies are based in the National Technology Park - a mix of foreign companies, Irish companies, support services and training entities, providing high quality employment for over 3,000 people. Northern Trust Ireland already employs 400 people in the IFSC in Dublin. The company is part of Northern Trust, one of the world’s leading financial institutions, based in Chicago.
