Slieve Bloom Task Force working to further develop Slieve Bloom area
A Taskforce comprising Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Development have been working with Laois and Offaly County Councils, Laois and Offaly Leader, National Parks and Wildlife Services, and Coillte, to create a coordinated approach to development, marketing and investment in the Slieve Bloom Mountain area.
The Taskforce recently invited the local tourism trade and residents, to a presentation at Racket Hall Country House, to highlight their progress and identify opportunities for the future. The event was hosted and organised by Fáilte Ireland and Shannon Development. Speakers included; Kevin Kidney, Fáilte Ireland, General Manger East and Midlands Region; Pat Daly, Tourism Marketing Manger, Shannon Development; Declan Kirrane, Director of Services Offaly Co. Council, Colm Breheny, Business Development, Failte Ireland; and Mary Ann McDonagh, facilitator of the Walking Ireland South West Tourism Learning Network.
