Contractors Appointed for Phase One of Roscrea Business and Technology Park
Shannon Development today (Monday 30th April ’07) announced the appointment of two separate contactors to carry out infrastructural and landscaping work on Phase One of the Roscrea Business and Technology Park at the Company’s 26 acre site at Benamore, on the Dublin side of Roscrea, Co Tipperary.
The contract for the provision of infrastructural services was awarded to Priority Construction Ltd, from Dublin, and the contract for the provision of landscaping went to ISS Grangemore Ltd, from Galway.
“This is the first phase in the development of the Roscrea Business and Technology Park which when complete will cover a floor area of 225,000sq ft. of industrial and office space, with the potential to accommodate over 1,000 jobs. This development is a strong commitment by Shannon Development to the future growth and prosperity of Roscrea and the whole North Tipperary and Offaly area. When considered with the development of Tipperary Technology Park and Birr Technology Centre, as part of the Shannon Development Knowledge Network, it is clear the Company is committed to, and investing in, balanced regional development,” says Alice Morgan, Regional Development Manager for North Tipperary and South West Offaly.
An overall site master plan for the development of phase one of the Roscrea Business and Technology Park was undertaken for Shannon Development by RKD Architects.
“Shannon Development has invested over €3 million in land acquisition and the first phase of infrastructure and core services at Roscrea Business and Technology Park. This is a sizable amount of capital expenditure by Shannon Development, and demonstrates our strong commitment to developing Roscrea as a high class business location,” says Gerry Fitzmaurice, Property Development Manager, Shannon Development.
The infrastructural works are expected to take 6 months to complete and the landscaping will follow and be completed in 2008. Following this the next stage will involve the selection of a design team for the first Park building, and this is expected before the end of the year. Shannon Development will be inviting private sector investment in the future development of the project.
