Full Steam Ahead for Thurles Land Bank Development

Shannon Development has announced the appointment of John Thompson & Partners, Architects, from Limerick, to prepare a master plan for the Company’s 60 acres land bank in Archerstown, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

The land is situated in Archerstown, adjacent to the River Suir and Thurles Golf Club, is 3.5 miles from the N.8 Dublin/Cork. The total landbank is presently zoned for industrial use.

Shannon Development has long recognised the need to provide modern industrial infrastructure in Thurles and this new development will compliment the work already undertaken by the Company at Tipperary Technology Park.

“The focus of our property development strategy is now firmly on developing the Archerstown land bank in line with the Shannon Development’s new mandate to provide property solutions to underpin economic development in the Shannon Region”, says Gerry Fitzmaurice, Property Development Manager, Shannon Development.

The new master plan for the land bank will incorporate infrastructure requirements including road access, utility service requirements and landscaping.

“The development of the Archerstown land bank will commence a process that will enhance the attractiveness of the town as an industrial location to ensure Thurles remains an attractive location for indigenous and foreign direct investment. We envisage that the future development of the land bank will result in an attractive mixed use business park which will be available for some or all of the following uses; knowledge enterprise; large/ medium and small Industry; office accommodation; business accommodation; distribution/warehousing”, says Alice Morgan, Regional Development Manager for North Tipperary and South West Offaly.

The master plan is expected to be complete by August 2007.
