“We are delighted with the announcement by the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Séamus Brennan, TD, of grant support for Lough Derg Waterpark projects,” said John King, Heritage and Tourism Director, Shannon Development.
“Shannon Development has worked closely with Clare Co. Council in initially drafting the tourism plan for Lough Derg International Waterpark. The Twomilegate project will be one of the main developments in the Co. Clare shoreline over the coming year. We also welcome the grant support for the development of East Clare Lakeland and the provision of visitor infrastructure for this key niche tourism market. These projects represent significant investment in visitor infrastructure and when completed, along with works already underway else where around Lough Derg, will lead to a substantial improvement in visitor facilities and activities for holidaymaker coming to this beautiful area,” said Mr. King.
“We would like to congratulate Clare Co. Council and look forward to working with them in the delivery of the Twomilegate project. In tandem with this we will also continue to work in partnership with the tourism trade, local authorities and the Mid West Regional Authority, on initiatives which will help promote Lough Derg as an international Waterpark. One initiative we are currently working on is the provision of a dedicated website for Lough Derg which will be launched in the coming months,” said John Crowe, Tourism Product Development Executive, Shannon Development.
