Key Dublin based business people originally from Offaly and Tipperary were among those who attended a briefing in Dublin recently organised by Shannon Development. The event was organised to enlist the help of key business and well know figures originally from Counties Offaly and Tipperary to promote the Counties as a location for business and tourism investment.
“With the current economic climate there is a sense that opportunities do no exist. We organised this briefing of Offaly and Tipperary influencers based in Dublin to promote the vast array of opportunities that do exist for potential investors, including the Mid-Shannon Tourism Investment Scheme. The briefing is a way of harnessing the support of influential Offaly and Tipperary people now based in Dublin to spread the word that these counties are great places to live and work. At our briefing we made a special presentation covering all aspects of why the counties are a superb location. All of the people we targeted have national and international contacts in the business sector. We would hope that in the future if any of these contacts are looking for a location to establish a new business, or expand an existing business, that they consider Offaly and Tipperary as a potential location,” says Alice Morgan, Shannon Development, Regional Development Manager, Offaly and North Tipperary.
“Almost forty influential people from the world of business, accounting, and sport, attended the briefing. ‘Word of Mouth’ promotion is one of the most effective ways of communicating with potential investors. As part of our briefing, we reminded the business people present of the reasons why Offaly and Tipperary are great locations. Reasons including the cost effectiveness, availability of well-educated and skilled labour, and the proximity to airports without the traffic problems of other locations. We also informed the group of Shannon Development plans for Offaly and Tipperary including the progress on eTowns in Banagher and our plans to redevelop Syngefield Enterprise Centre in Birr, and Shannon Development plans for Tipperary including the planned development of a third building at Tipperary Technology,” Ms Morgan concluded.
