Well known TV personality Kathryn Thomas is pictured here in Thomond Park Limerick working on a TV travel feature for the RTE ‘No Frontiers’ holiday programme. Limerick is expected to get a boost as a result of the programme which will promote Limerick as a holiday destination. It will show the diverse range of superb accommodation in the Limerick area, as well as a spa and wellness element, shopping, culture visitor attractions and sporting facilities including the new Thomond Park Stadium, and will feature Kathryn soaking up the rugby atmosphere.
The film shoot was secured for Limerick by Shannon Development who made a successful pitch to the programme producer earlier this year and subsequently organised the itinerary to suit the crew’s filming schedule. The feature will focus on Limerick’s appeal as a city breaks destination.
“We are delighted to have been able to play our part in this exciting promotional opportunity for Limerick. It is the first time that Limerick has been featured on the programme and we are confident that it will boost visitor numbers,” says John King, Tourism Director, Shannon Development.
‘No Frontiers’ is produced for RTE by Frontier Films, and is now in its 11th year and attracts an audience of over half a million viewers from all round Ireland. The programme can also be viewed on the RTE website and has a huge website following. The Limerick feature is expected to be broadcast around the end of February 2009.
