Burren Region to feature on RTE TV ‘Eco Eye’ programme
The scenic beauty of the Burren Region will feature on Duncan Stewart's popular environmental series ‘Eco Eye’ on RTE One TV at 7.00 pm on Tuesday next 13th January 09. The Burren feature will look at the challenges of protecting this special area while facilitating the sensitive development of tourism in the area. Interviewees on the programme will include; Carol Gleeson, Project Manager, Burren Connect Project, John King, Tourism Director Shannon Development, Geologist Dr. Maria McNamara and John Murphy from Birdwatch Ireland.
The work of the Burren Connect Project on environmental protection and sustainable visitor management in the Burren region of County Clare will be featured. Burren Connect was established in December 2007 with funding from the Fáilte Ireland Development Scheme Fund, in partnership with Shannon Development and Clare County Council, National Parks and Wildlife Service, National Monuments Service, Geological Survey of Ireland and Burrenbeo.
