Limerick to feature on top TV travel series this Sunday 1st March
500,000 viewers to watch ‘No Frontiers’ travel programme on Limerick
A major feature on Limerick as a holiday destination will be screened this Sunday 1st March ’09 at 7.30 pm on the top RTE One TV travel show ‘No Frontiers’. The feature will focus on Limerick’s appeal as a city breaks destination.
Bubbly TV personality Kathryn Thomas travelled to Limerick to soak up the holiday atmosphere in the city and surrounding area. The electric atmosphere at the All Black’s clash at Thomond Park Stadium will be a major part of the programme. Kathryn enjoyed the rugby atmosphere in the city in advance of the game. She also did a tour of the stadium with Munster player Alan Quinlan showing her the stadium’s new interactive museum.
“The programme will be watched by an estimated half a million viewers and will be a major boost for Limerick’s tourism industry. We are delighted to have been able to play our part in securing this exciting promotional opportunity for Limerick. It is the first time that Limerick has been featured on the programme and we are confident that it will attract additional visitors to the city,” says John King, Assistant Chief Executive, Shannon Development.
Shannon Development made a successful pitch to the programme producer last year to feature Limerick, and subsequently devised an itinerary to suit the crew’s busy filming schedule while in the city. In addition to featuring a as well as a spa and wellness element the programme will show the diverse range of superb accommodation in the Limerick area including the Absolute Hotel and Adare Manor Hotel. Shopping and culture visitor attractions including the Hunt Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral and King John’s Castle are also highlighted. Limerick tour guide Michael O’ Donnell who brought Kathryn on a walking tour of Georgian Limerick is also featured.
‘No Frontiers’ is produced for RTE by Frontier Films, and is now in its 11th year and in addition to its TV audience, the programme also has a huge following through the RTE website.
