German Travel Writers Experience Clare Delights
A group of influential travel journalists from all over Germany enjoyed a taste of Co Clare hospitality this week (23rd April ’09). Their trip was organised by Shannon Development and Tourism Ireland in Germany.
During their fact-finding visit, the journalists had a chance to experience at first-hand some of the extensive and varied range of activities which Co. Clare has to offer potential holidaymakers – including a cruise from Doolin to see the spectacular Cliffs of Moher and a walk in the Burren with Frances Connole of the Burren Centre. The group also enjoyed a presentation on local food by Birgitta Hedin-Curtin at the Burren Smokehouse in Lisdoonvarna. They stopped off at the Burren Perfumery in Carron, and enjoyed a short walking tour of the Burren with Tony Kirby from Heart of Burren Walks. They visited Glór in Ennis where they had a boudhran lesson, and enjoyed a tour of Knappogue Castle as well as a traditional night of Irish hospitality at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
