The delights of the Shannon Region as a holiday destination will feature on a new TV3 holiday series which airs this weekend, Friday 26th June at 8.00 pm. The series is called ‘Something for the Weekend’ and TV celebrity Amanda Byram is the guest presenter for the Shannon Region programme.
Speaking about the importance of the programme Pat Daly, Shannon Development Tourism and Marketing Division Manager said “We were delighted to have worked with the programme producers on a programme which complements Shannon Development’s domestic tourism marketing activities. The home holiday market is worth €100 million annually to the Shannon Region’s economy and is a hugely important revenue stream for many tourism businesses in the Region. The new TV3 holiday programme provides us with another superb vehicle to sell the Shannon Region as a ‘must visit’ holiday destination.”
Among the featured items from Co. Clare on the programme will be a surfing lesson, rock climbing in the Burren, a spa treatment and golf lesson at Doonbeg Golf Club, a visit to Bunratty Folk Park and a medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle, rock climbing in the Burren, a visit to the Cliffs of Moher, a surfing lesson in Lahinch. A trip with Shannon Ferries on the Tarbert to Kilimer car ferry, and the Strand Hotel in Limerick city, and horse riding at Clonshire Equestrian Centre in Co. Limerick.
