Shannon Development forges tourism links with Swedish development group

Shannon Development has had meetings with a top Swedish regional development company in a bid to forge business tourism links for the Shannon Region. Key representatives from the Halland Regional Development Council were in Co. Clare recently, and during their visit Shannon Development briefed them on their regional development activities with a view to establishing contacts.

“Shannon Development believes in a partnership approach to regional development and throughout our history we have worked to forge partnerships with individuals and groups to benefit the Shannon Region economically. These partnerships have been forged from within the Shannon Region, nationally and internationally. Our meeting with the Halland Development Council was designed to allow an exchange of knowledge and explore possible future business links with Sweden. The Swedish group were particularly impressed with our international reputation as a ‘must see’ tourist destination, and during their visit they got to see some of Co. Clare’s top tourist attractions including the Cliffs of Moher, the Aillwee Cave and Bird of Prey centre. They also got a tour of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and were briefed by John Ruddle, chief executive, Shannon Heritage” says Oonagh Kelly Shannon Development Tourism Marketing Executive, Europe.
